Over the past two years or so there’s been no shortage of photography and short films featuring the sensuous curls of ink plumes dispersing underwater. Yet nobody comes close to the master, Italian photographer Alberto Seveso (previously here and here) who creates impressive underwater landscapes so rich in detail and color it makes me want to swim through my monitor. Anna Atkins is perhaps the female photographer most associated with the process. She was a 19th century botanist who explored the process to create beautiful and detailed images of plants. The Rayographs and Photograms of Man Ray and Moholy-Nagy are later, darkroom based equivalents of this camera-less photographic process. Check out our pinterest board for inspiration. This week year 12 have been experimenting with long shutter speeds and light painting. Here are some examples of their work...
